[Friday Favorites] 11th Edition of All K-Pop and Drama Favorites

A lot of music releases and drama castings/offers were talked about this week, but here are my favorites (hint: no surprise Jay Park and BTS make the list):

1. Hyolyn Drops New Track “Dally” featuring GRAY

While I have mixed feelings about the music video, the song is super catchy and I love GRAY (hence, why he’s on this list twice). I like the theme/genre of music Hyolyn is going for in her solo career, so I hope she continues to release quality singles.

2. Jay Park and GRAY Release New MV and Track “El Tornado”

Jay Park is basically my #1 go to for great music (besides BTS). His rapping is so individualistic and crazy talented. I think Jay Park and GRAY make a great combo, and I’m really loving the theme of this MV too.

3. Park Shin Hye Finally Confirms Her Drama Comeback

After two years away from K-Dramas (not counting short cameo appearances), Park Shin Hye is finally returning as a lead in a new drama!! She is one of my top 5 actors, and I will watch any show she’s in, no doubt. Park Shin Hye will be appearing alongside Hyun Bin for Song Jae Jung’s new show “Memories of the Alhambra”. The drama is about a CEO of an investment company (Hyun Bin) going through a rough patch in life when he encounters Jung Hee Joo (Park Shin Hye) in Granada, Spain. Hee Joo manages the hostel he is staying at and their relationship evolves from there.

Song Jae Jung’s previous works include hits such as “Coffee House”, “Queen In Hyun’s Man”, “The Three Musketeers”, and “W”.

4. Offers Out To Seo Kang Joon and Chun Woo Hee for New Drama

Who doesn’t love Seo Kang Joon?? He was in the very underwhelming “Cheese In The Trap” drama as pretty much the only thing I liked about that show. Ever since, he’s been on the rise in the drama world as he already has two 2018 dramas (“Are You Human Too?”, “Something About Us”). If he accepts the role in “The Third Charm”, it will mark 3 drama for the year, and it’s only April! Chun Woo Hee has been offered the opposite lead role.

“The Third Charm” would be a realistic romantic comedy drama about the characters Ban Min Soo and Lee Young Jae airing in the second part of the year.

5. Kim Jae Wook Considering Lead Role in OCN Drama

FINALLY. I have been waiting for Kim Jae Wook to have a quality lead role worthy of his talent. While it isn’t confirmed, he is in talks to star in “Hand” which sounds more like a mysterious/supernatural drama revolving around a priest, psychic, and investigator fighting crimes. Kim Jae Wook has been offered the role of the priest and the show is led by PD Kim Hong Sun (“Voice”, “Black”).

Yes, all caps are needed for this news. Just imagine how much they’re gonna slay this performance. I’m hoping they’ll do a medley of songs including some from their new album which will be released just a week before the award show.

7. Stray Kids Release Performance Video for “Mirror”

Stray Kids is easily becoming one of my favorite K-Pop groups. They’re different, in my opinion, to other JYP groups and their choreography/performing is off the charts. I expect them to be the next BTS or EXO.

8. Yoon Mi Rae Hits with Powerful Video for “Kawi Bawi Bo”

If you ever need a girl power anthem, look no further. Yoon Mi Rae brought it with this new hip-hop/rap release and I’m loving it. Such a hype song!
