K-Drama Update: Currently Watching and What’s Next
It’s a busy time right now in K-Drama land. Many shows premiered at the same time in October, so they’re all about to conclude within the next couple weeks. Here’s what I’ve been watching and my take on them so far:
1. “Temperature of Love” / 사랑의 온도
“Temperature of Love” has been either a hit or miss with most people, there really isn’t an in between. However, I absolutely have been loving this drama! It’s really starting to heat up now causing problems between the two main leads. Seo Hyun-Jin, Yang Se-Jong, and Kim Jae-Wook continually to impress me each episode. This drama ends on November 27th so look out for a review coming soon on the blog!
2. “The Package” / 더 패키지
Most likely one of the most underrated dramas recently, “The Package” continues to draw more people in. I’ve always been a fan of Jung Yong-Hwa and will watch any drama in which he stars. However, he has outdone himself with this one. His acting skills have definitely gotten better and you can’t not love his character, San Ma-Roo. Also, this is probably the best chemistry he’s had with a female lead in actress Lee Yeon-Hee. I’m really upset about “The Package” coming to an end this week, but I’m excited to see how it’s concluded.
3. “Revolutionary Love” / 변혁의 사랑
At first, I thought “Revolutionary Love” was going to be one of my favorites of the year with Siwon in the leading role after returning from his military service. However, it took me quite a few episodes to get into this drama. Siwon is a great actor and has some of the best facial expressions every, but his character, Byun Hyuk, is one I’m having a hard time liking. He’s growing on me now, but I still prefer the second lead Kwon Je-Hoon (actor Gong Myung). I’m really eager to see the course this drama decides to take in upcoming episodes.
4. “While You Were Sleeping” / 당신이 잠든 사이에
This is the only drama I’m a little behind on. I haven’t watched the past week’s episodes, but hopefully, I’ll catch up soon. In my opinion, “While You Were Sleeping” started off really strong and then started to lull a bit which is probably why I’m not 100% motivated to catch up yet. However, Suzy has really impressed me with her acting! I wasn’t expecting much from her previous acting reviews, but she is doing Nam Hong-Joo justice. While Lee Jong-Suk is great as always, I believe the real stand-out has been actor Jung Hae-In playing character Han Woo-Tak. This drama is also concluding this week, so I’ll be reviewing it in the next couple weeks as well!
Dramas Next Up On My List:
1. “Because This Is My First Life” / 이번 생은 처음이라
I’ve watched the first two episodes of this drama and am hooked. But, I’m having a hard time keeping up with five shows at once, so this one is put on the back burner until next week.
2. “Witch’s Court” / 마녀의 법정
I haven’t heard any negative reviews on this drama yet, and the ratings keep increasing. So, I can’t wait until I’m able to add this one to my shows.
3. “The Best Hit” / 최고의 한방
While there are plenty of upcoming dramas I’d like to see, there are still so many dramas from earlier this year and even last year I’m still wanting to watch. “The Best Hit” received great reviews, and I’m a fan of Yoon Si-Yoon.
