Currently Streaming: K-Dramas I Am Watching Now

I had a few weeks where I wasn’t sure which drama to start watching next. I finished watching two fantasy/melodrama K-Dramas and felt like my emotions needed a break. Since I couldn’t decide if I wanted another fantasy drama or a lighthearted romance, I gave a couple different ones a try. Here’s what’s currently streaming on my computer and what I think so far:

“School 2017″/학교 2017

Why am I just now watching this?!?! I started watching this drama yesterday…and am now on episode 6. I’ve never seen any of the “School” series, but the following and popularity surrounding this one made me give it a try. I’m sure glad I did! It’s such a cute story and a perfect drama for back-to-school time.

I didn’t expect to like the main characters as much as I do. At first, I was a little unsure about Ra Eun-Ho (played by Kim Se-Jeong), but her don’t-back-down attitude won me over (as of episode 6 anyways). However, I knew I’d love Hyun Tae-Woon since the very start. Something about male leads who start off with a cold exterior/personality but really a sweet and caring guy always gets to me. I’ll do a full review of this show once I finish!

I know, I know. I’m really late to this drama and do not have an excuse for it either. Honestly, I’m mad at myself for waiting so long to watching “Healer”. Ji Chang-Wook is a favorite of mine, but for some reason I kept finding myself putting this one off. I think it is because the background of this one seemed pretty intense. And, I have to be in the mood to watch a drama like this one. I’m almost half way through this one, and am really into the back story of this one. It’s an interesting storyline for the three main characters to all be connected through their parents’ friendship.

Also, Ji Chang-Wook. I mean the man can do no wrong. He plays the character Seo Jung-Hoo which is really 3 characters in one: the scared, “little brother” Park Bong-Soo working for the tabloid news website; the strong, tough “Healer” carrying out other people’s dirty work/illegal activities; and the reserved/lonely Seo Jung-Hoo who wants to buy a deserted island for himself to be away from everyone. Each character has a trait that makes you fall in love with him.

For the female lead, there is Park Min-Young playing Chae Young-Shin/Oh Ji-An. I really love female lead characters like her. She’s super hard-working and determined and doesn’t take crap from others. Also, Young-Shin will crack you up with her random singing and dance parties. I’m now at the point in the show where I can tell everything is about to start crashing down around them (and I’ll be sitting on my couch with a box of tissues). But, I have a feeling “Healer” will move up to one of my top 3 favorite dramas ever…I’ll keep you posted.

Next Up: “Hospital Ship”/병원선

I typically like a few episodes (if not majority of episodes) to have aired before I start watching. I’m not a very patient person. So, with the way K-Dramas like to give you cliffhangers (EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE.), I like to have enough to binge-watch if need be. With the ratings this show has started off with, I think I’m going to have to start watching it this week!

What are some other shows (past or present) y’all would recommend?

Gotta love Healer! An instant classic. Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young are one of the best drama couples ever 🙂 I plan to watch both School 2017 and Hospital Ship too. I could definitely recommend a bunch of amazing dramas, but it would be a long list 😉

I definitely recommend School 2017! I’m loving it and it gets better with each episode. 🙂 Oohh I’d love any recommendations! I’ve heard “It’s okay, thats love” is really good too but I’m on the fence about it.

Haha JCW is! I’m going to miss him in dramas while he’s completing his military service. 🙁 I’m so surprised by how much I love School 2017! It’s making me think I should go back and watch the other “School” series.
